A BLAST FROM THE PAST
When we were young we never had the internet, a mobile phone or many toys to play with
and so we were constantly making up different ways to pass time. This short poem is a cluster
of our childhood memories using text and visuals to create a feeling of nostalgia, reminding us
of the strange activities we all did as the zealous kid we once were.
Each image is defined by a moment or moments and has its own place where it lives in memory.
These memories live on the bus, in a car, your room or at the kitchen table etc. Converting these
memories into images required me to re-live each moment, like going through an old photo album,
remaking an object, getting the bus early in the morning when it’s freezing cold. This helped me
visualise and re-create each individual memory into these nostalgic images.
